- AT LEAST 40,000 runners are pounding the streets of the capital as the London Marathon makes its triumphant return. Swarms of fitness enthusiasts bounded from the start line in Greenwich for the 26-mile race, after Covid-19 saw the event held off for 889 days.
The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon is set to be the biggest marathon ever staged anywhere in the world, with an incredible 100,000 runners scheduled to take part on Sunday 3 October.
