Description. CEP Triathlon Skinsuits give you more energy for greater endurance and enhanced performance for triathlons. They feature medi compression in the leg, which improves circulation, reduces the muscle vibrations that frequently cause sore muscles, and increases coordination.

Is a Trisuit the same as a wetsuit?
A wetsuit is made of neoprene material and is very buoyant. A tri suit is not buoyant at all.
What’s the difference between a wetsuit and a swimskin?
A swimskin is thinner than a triathlon wetsuit and will only offer a little added buoyancy or warmth. It will often be sleeveless or will have short sleeves on the arms, and will reach down to the knees on the legs. The zipper will be located on the rear to further reduce frontal drag.
How much difference does a swimskin make?
In a recent pool test using patented technology developed for the U.S. Olympic swim team, swimskins saved an average of just over 2 seconds per 100 yards compared to a typical training suit. Wearing a wetsuit knocked off 6 seconds per hundred versus the training suit.
Do Swimskins keep you warm?
If you have never heard of a swimskin, they are a skin-tight “speedsuit” that goes over your tri suit or race kit and extends from the knees to the shoulders. They do not offer buoyancy or warmth, but the compression allows you to maintain speed and hydrodynamics while swimming through the water.
Do you swim in a Trisuit?
In a triathlon you want to wear what is called a triathlon suit or a triathlon kit (a top/bottom combo) designed to be worn in the swim, the bike, and finally the run. In other words, you do not take it off! With the exception of the wetsuit (if needed), you need not put on any other piece of clothing.
How do you wear a Trisuit under a wetsuit?
A good Tri top will not bunch up under the wetsuit, and will keep its form-fitting shape. Ditto for women sporting a sport top. Otherwise, you go shirtless for the swim and throw a running or workout shirt on at the first transition.
What does skins mean in swimming?
Not to be confused with skinny dipping or Swimskins, ‘swimming skins’ simply means wearing normal swimwear. Many open water purists argue that the focus should be on technique and hard work, rather than kit. Wetsuits give swimmers an artificial advantage, so going without gives a more level playing field.
Can you swim laps in a wetsuit?
Lap Swimming: You can swim in a wetsuit in a pool, especially if you are looking for some added buoyancy or warmth. Wetsuit vests, short johns, and even triathlon wetsuits may be perfect for those who tend to get cold in the water.
Can you swim the Channel in a wetsuit?
1) Since the first Channel swim in 1875, there have been 1,731 successful Channel swim crossings. 4) For a swim to be officially recognised, you cannot wear a wetsuit! In fact, the only equipment you are allowed is a swimming hat, goggles, a nose clip, ear plugs and your costume.
Are Swimskins legal in Ironman?
Approved for USAT and WTC (IRONMAN) sanctioned events. Performance compression fit reduces drag and provides support through the core and the legs.
Do Swimskins make you faster?
The hydrophobic coating on a swimskin makes the suit extremely slippery in water. The same thing happens to the water that you swim through — it is repelled by the suit and has very little frictional interaction with the suit as you move forward. The result: lower surface drag and faster swimming.
Are swim skins legal?
Are Swimskins legal in Triathlons? Yes, always. Swimskins are not considered wetsuits so they are legal for all triathlon swims, even if the water is too warm for wetsuits.
Is Ironman Texas wetsuit legal?
It might be wet to legal, but it also might be wetsuit optional. In its short tenure, Ironman® Texas has seen every possible variation of the swim. So bring the wetsuit, bring the speed suit, and bring a healthy amount of patience to deal with the people who incessantly check water temperature every 15 minutes.
Can you swim in a surfing wetsuit?
If you have a surfing style wetsuit, it will do just fine. It will need to be between 3-5mm. However, it is likely to be very suitable for what we do; exploration swimming in places where there might be rocks to negotiate on entry or exit rather than gravel ponds or sandy beaches. The 5mm suits are warmer.
Do wetsuits slow you down?
You spend many hundreds of dollars or pounds on a beautiful well fitting wetsuit but when you swim in it you’re no faster, or even slower, than you are without it. The added buoyancy of a wetsuit starts to lift your legs out of the water and you lose power and the stability provided from your leg kick.
